Wood is a wonderful building material. Not only is it a renewable resource, but also wood is a fantastic natural insulator and has a relatively low carbon footprint for building with and to live in. Therefore log cabins are an eco-friendly solution for living in and blend perfectly with natural surroundings.
Our beautiful log cabins offer the opportunity to have a bespoke home made in a relatively short space of time at a very cheap price. We supply and fit cheap log cabin house kits and mobile log homes. Thus, compared to conventional brick-built homes, a log cabin can be ready for you to move into in a matter of weeks. Fully insulated log cabin homes for comfortable living all year round
Our well-designed and expertly made residential log cabin homes that you can live in are appropriately insulated to comply with Building Regulations. We achieve this by utilising our insulated Twin Skin log wall system, making them comfortable to live in all year round, no matter what the weather. Fully insulated Twin Skin timber houses and bungalows are composed of 2 individual walls separated by an insulation cavity, which can be filled with various types of insulation.
Log cabin home on display – come and see it
We have a 1 bedroom log cabin home on display in our show site in West Sussex. It is perfect for a garden cabin annexe – it has a kitchen / dining room, bedroom and a large shower room (but large enough to fit a bath should you wish). All of this fits comfortably into a log cabin measuring just under 30sqm!….
Why choose a Twin Skin wall over a really thick solid timber wall?
The insulated cavity walls in our residential log cabins could be made from solid timber with an equivalent thermal value. But you could ask why not just opt for a solid thicker wall then? Basically, the simple answer is that a solid wall would be 3.5 times thicker, and consequently that much more expensive as well. Meaning our habitable specification 45mm twinskin provides a wall thickness of 180mm – to achieve the same insulation from solid timber would require a 600mm thick wall! With this in kind, our fully insulated solution saves on space, materials and costs.

Currently, habitable buildings need a building U value of 0.25 or lower. As you can see from the table above, we can easily achieve this. For instance, glazed areas are generally the cold spots, but our uPVC doors and windows will help you achieve an extremely efficient thermal value. It’s very important that building regulations and planning laws are followed for your own peace of mind. This is why all of our designs are built to a very high standard and comply with the appropriate regulations for residential park homes as a minimum.
The usual UK building regulations don’t apply to park homes or mobile log cabin houses that comply with the caravan act for mobile homes. But we can easily upgrade any of our designs to comply with the building regulations for permanent habitation as well. All in all, this usually just means thicker insulation. Be sure to check with your local council regarding planning application requirements and restrictions.
