Well-built log cabins are becoming a sought-after feature of the British garden and more and more people are even choosing log cabins to live in. Having a log cabin as a feature on your property is easy with one of our UK Log Cabin kits. Whether you want a home office, a workshop, a games room, a space to store your collection of garden furniture, mowers and tools, or a full-scale log cabin home to live in, our log cabin kits offer an easy-to-build, cost-effective solution.
Installing and constructing your own log cabin with one of our easy-to-make kits means you have complete control over the construction materials and the design and you’ll even be able to build it on difficult to access sites. Our log cabin kits are an affordable alternative to costly extension work and self-build homes, and are a great alternative for guest accommodation.
Choosing your log cabin
We’ve made it really easy for you to choose a log cabin kit to suit you. We offer a huge range of log cabin styles and a wide range of accessories to enable you to customise your log cabin project. It couldn’t be easier to get everything you need to make your log cabin just how you’d imagined it. Simply select the size and style of log cabin you desire and we’ll offer a range of options to make your customised kit complete. You can always visit us at our showground to get a feel for what styles you like.
You’ll have complete control over the aesthetics of your log cabin with our wide range of choices. Everything comes from our own dedicated factory so we can easily customise designs to suit you. You can choose everything from wall thickness, timber treatment, insulation kits, weed and damp proof membranes, partition walling, floor upgrades, external colour choices, to roofing styles and treatment options and much more. We offer everything you need to make the perfect timber cabin for you and your family to enjoy.
Our small, medium and large log cabin kits are all much more substantial than the standard garden shed with various wall thicknesses available. We offer wall thicknesses from 28mm up to 200mm single skin solid log, as well as our cavity walled twinskin models which can be insulated to meet full building regulations for living in.
Windows and doors are double glazed as standard for all Hortons log cabins of wall thickness 35mm and above, while 28mm thickness log cabins are single glazed as standard (upgrades are available). Additional doors and windows can be added to any Hortons log cabin.
Building your log cabin
You don’t need to be a qualified carpenter to put together one of our easy-to-construct log cabins. We’ve thought carefully about the construction process, which is why we’ve made it super easy for the layperson to put together. At Hortons we have carefully developed our log cabin kits for easy DIY installation, with more work done at the factory so there’s less for you to do on site. We offer a comprehensive guide with all of our log cabin kits to make installation as easy as it could be.
You will need to be a competent woodworker in order to carry out finishing and alterations, or employ a suitable contractor to do that work for you. Log cabins are made of a natural material and it is impossible to guarantee an absolutely perfect finish to every part because of the natural movement of timber.
We also offer a full log cabin installation service if you would prefer your log cabin to be supplied and fitted by us.
